Kristi Rietz
Welcome To The Platte County Treasurer's Office!
A message from Kristi Rietz, Platte County Treasurer:
"Because of checks and balances, there isn't one specific county office that handles a particular task 100%. The Assessor, Clerk and Treasurer work together as a team to keep the county fluent, efficient and operating smoothly.
For example:
The Clerk records land deeds and property transfers or contracts of sale.
The Assessor determines property ownership from the Clerk's records, and calculates values and the amount of taxes owed.
The Treasurer sends the tax bills compiled from information received from the Clerk and Assessor and then manages the collection process.
For that reason, we all have areas of expertise that are a piece of the county as a whole."
Responsibilities of the County Treasurer include being the Investment Officer for County Funds,
Book and record keeping of all monies received, the issuing of various vehicle registrations,
Collection of Sales & Use Taxes, Receipt and disbursement of Federal, State and Local Government
funds.

Congratulations On Your Retirement Linda!
There is a whole new kind of life ahead, full of experiences just waiting to happen.
Some call it "retirement." I call it bliss.-- Betty Sullivan
Linda Bowen has been your County Treasurer since 1987, having worked in the office
as a clerk prior to taking office. She has served the fifth longest tenure of any
county official in the last century. We appreciate her unfailing commitment to the
position and to excellent customer service. Linda put the taxpayers of Platte County
first and strived to make the unpleasant task of spending money as pleasant as possible.
She would greet many of her customers by name and would do the best she could to
solve whatever issue they may have had. "Be hard on the issue but soft on the person"
was a motto she would instill in any new clerk in her office. Linda's public service,
uplifting personality and kindness will be missed but we are excited for her and
any new endeavors she may undertake. Thank you for all your dedicated service Linda!
