Public Hearing - County Budget





NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLATTE COUNTY BUDGET



Notice is hereby given of a public hearing, to be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The hearing will be held during a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. The location of the hearing is the Commissioner Room, which is in the County Courthouse (800 9th Street) in Wheatland. The purpose of said hearing is to accept public comments on Platte County’s proposed budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. All persons wishing to be heard on this matter may appear and be heard at the designated time and place stated herein. Below is the tentative Platte County budget for Fiscal Year 2026 – 2027: 

 

Section 1. It is estimated the total amount of revenues other than property taxes to be collected during the fiscal year are in the amount of $9,351,385.50 as detailed herein: 

General Fund Revenues...................... $7,893,885.50

Restricted Fund Revenues................... $1,446,000.00

Library Fund Revenues....................... $11,500.00

 

Section 2. It is estimated the total cash carry-over on July 1st will total $14,339,031.92. Of that, Platte County intends to commit $6,994,766.66 towards the budget of fiscal year 2026 – 2027 as detailed herein: 

County General Funds Committed..... $3,585,766.66

Restricted Funds Committed.............. $3,409,000.00

            

Section 3. The total cash committed to the budget and revenues other than property taxes available for appropriations total $16,346,152.16.

 

Section 4. It is estimated the appropriations to be made total $19,015,973.60 as detailed herein:

Section 5. It is estimated that Platte County will be required to levy a property tax of 12 mills on the taxable property within the County to collect $2,669,821.44 as detailed herein: 

County General Fund.................. $2,334,981.44 – a levy of 10.49 mills

County Library Fund................... $334,840.00 – a levy of 1.51 mills
