Controlled Burn

From time to time Platte County residents need to burn something – weeds, trash, ditches, or other things. Burning is not against the law unless the Commissioners have passed a Fire Ban Resolution. However, it often happens that when residents are burning something on their own property, others who see the smoke or flames, may report it as an emergency. In order to prevent unnecessary responses by our fire departments, the county requests residents to notify the dispatch center ahead of time.

To notify of a controlled burn call 322-2331

Give the Location (address) of the burn.

Give the estimated length of time the burn will continue.

Call 322-2331 again when the burn has been extinguished.
