The County Assessor's office is an information gathering office. We use the information we gather about properties to ensure the County's valuation is set accurately each year. The Assessor's office is responsible for assessing property taxes, however the Platte County Treasurer's Office collects the taxes.

The Platte County Attorney's Office: Prosecutes on behalf of the people of the State of Wyoming in all criminal and juvenile matters; Represents the Platte County Commissioner's in all civil matters; Represents each Platte County elected official in the official capacity; Provides legal opinions to the elected officials, boards and entities involved in Platte County Governement; Represents the State of Wyoming's interest in all involuntary hospitalization proceedings; Provide legal duties as prescribed by law.

The County Clerk's Office is responsible for a wide variety of government services. Our goal is to provide Platte County residents with efficient, competent and friendly service.

District Court is the keeper of the permanent records. This office files, maintains and preserves all documents for court cases filed in Platte County for the Eighth Judicial District. The District Court handles the following types of cases: Adoption, Civil, Criminal, Juvenile and Probate.

The Board of Platte County Commissioners hold public meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month starting at 9:00 AM. Special meetings and public hearings are scheduled as issues arise. The Coroner’s Office is the legal / medical office mandated by the Statutes of the State of Wyoming to investigate and assist in the determination of the manner and cause of deaths occurring within Platte County. The Coroner directs independent medical and legal investigations of death cases that come under the jurisdiction of the office.

The Engineers office makes recommendations to the County Commission relative to the design and review of infrastructure projects including: road, bridge, pathway, miscellaneous building projects and floodplain management. The County Engineer coordinates work conducted in the County owned right of way, and works in cooperation with the Planning & Zoning office, Road and Bridge, and facility operators.

Elections are the most fundamental, and important, function of our Republic. A number of decisions are made through elections, from who will serve in public office to what taxes shall be levied. These important decisions rest in the hands of those tasked with conducting the election!

Emergency management involves participants at all governmental levels and in the private sector. Activities are geared according to phases before, during, and after emergency events. The effectiveness of emergency management rests on a network of relationships among partners in the system.

The Information Technology department managed the county owned network and the computers and peripherals connected to it.

About County Maintenance:

Pursuant to Wyoming State Statute §18-3-504(a)(iii), the Board of County Commissioners are tasked with providing for the construction and maintenance of county buildings. In order to accomplish this, the Platte County Commissioners supervise a maintenance department who are tasked with providing maintenance to the following County facilities:

1. County Courthouse (Clerk, Treasurer, Assessor, Circuit Court, District Court, Commissioners) - 800 9th Street, Wheatland
2. Coleman Building (Public Health & County Attorney) - 718 9th Street, Wheatland
3. Library - 904 9th Street, Wheatland
4. U.W. Ag. Extension Office - 57 Antelope Gap Road, Wheatland

The County's Maintenance Department is staffed by Jim DeWitt, Supervisor, who has served Platte County since 2014 and Valentin Lopez who has served Platte County since 2005.

The Planning Department is primarily responsible for the administration of various land use regulations included in the Platte County Zoning Rules and Regulations.

• Education & Outreach—Getting information out about health, health-risks, and access to healthcare is a part of all public health does.
• Environmental Health—In cooperation with other county agencies, we strive to identify & investigate possible health hazards, and provide referrals, support and education.

The Platte County Road and Bridge Department maintains 650 miles of paved and gravel roads with the county.

The Platte County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to the protection of the people of Platte County and the professional enforcement of local, state, and federal laws. In accomplishing our mission, the men and women of the Sheriff's Office, who are themselves members of the community, will provide prompt and efficient response to those they serve. The Platte County Sheriff's Office values public trust and the confidence of our citizens. The Sheriff is the Chief Executive and Administrator of the Sheriff's Office. He oversees the Patrol Division, the Detention Division, and the Communication Division. The Platte County Sheriff serves as an elected official, with a four-year term. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of 25 sworn law enforcement officers, 7 communication officers, 7 civilian personnel serving a county that encompasses approximately 2,008 square miles.

Responsibilities of the County Treasurer include being the Investment Officer for county funds, book and recordkeeping of all monies received, issuing of vehicle registrations, collection of sales & use taxes, and receipt and disbursement of Federal, State & Local Government funds.
