Welcome To The Platte County Treasurer's Office!

A message from Kristi Rietz, Platte County Treasurer:

Because of checks and balances, there isn't one specific county office that handles a particular task 100%. The different County Departments work together as a team to keep the county operating smoothly and efficiently.

For example:

• The Clerk records land deeds and property transfers or contracts of sale. They also are responsible for transferring titles for motor vehicles.
• The Assessor determines property ownership from the Clerk's records, and calculates values and the amount of taxes owed.
• The Treasurer sends the tax bills compiled from information received from the Clerk and Assessor and then manages the collection process.
• The Treasurer's Office is responsible for issuing various vehicle registrations.

For that reason, we all have areas of expertise that are integral to the County as a whole.

Responsibilities of the County Treasurer include being the Investment Officer for county funds, book and recordkeeping of all monies received, issuing of vehicle registrations, collection of sales & use taxes, and receipt and disbursement of Federal, State & Local Government funds.
